A Practical Treatise on Locomotive Engines Upon Railways by Chev F M G De Pambour 1836 first English edition. A detailed 365 page book with 4 folding engraved plates, Giving much very technical information regarding Locomotives and railway track and their construction and working. Bound in modern calf, spine gilt, size 6" x 9¼" (Pambour's treatise gained almost immediate international attention. He had privileged access to the fledgling lines and manufacturers in England, especially the Liverpool and Manchester and Grand Junction lines and it was in their workshops that he made his experiments. Two of the plates are technical drawings of the Stephenson engines employed on the former line). The work on this modern binding was expensively done by a leading bookbinder.
