Also a lot of technical information regarding construction of Railways, wrought vs. cast iron also edge vs tram rails, merits of Locomotives vs Stationary Engines or Horse Power, high pressure steam locomotives, expenses of construction and running various different steam or horse railways etc. etc. Complete with three fold out plates. In original leather with gold tooling spine and marble board covers. Several of the surveyors and engineers including Joseph Locke, Stevenson and others had this as a reference book thus an important early publication.
