1893 Wolverhampton Wanderers FA Cup Winners Gold Medal awarded to Richard Baugh - inscribed ‘Winners, Wolverhampton Wanderers R. Baugh’ to the reverse, hallmarked 18ct, dia. 30mm, weight 16.2g. in original case, appears with minor dent to bottom right. Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Everton 1-0 at Fallowfield, Manchester, 45,000 attended and the ground was far too small for such an event and chaos ensued. R. Baugh was born in Wolverhampton, playing for Wolves from 1886 to 1896, was capped twice for England and also played in two cup final defeats for wolves in 1889 v Preston and 1896 v Sheffield Wednesday. A Full back he made 227 appearances for Wolves in League and Cup games scoring one goal, this was the first major trophy won by wolves.
