1928 Amsterdam Olympics Gold Medal awarded to Juan Peregrino Anselmo, striker of the Uruguayan National Football Team - made in vermeil silver, awarded to the champions of the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games. Obverse: Niké, Greek deity of victory, holds an Olympic palm and a laurel wreath over the coliseum, and inscribed "IX e Olympiade Amsterdam 1928". Reverse: crowd loads the triumphant athlete. Designed by Giussepe Cassioli (Italy, 1865-1942), according to the winning project in the competition organized by the International Olympic Committee in 1923. Design awarded for the first time at the 1928 Olympics, year in which 254 copies were produced in gold, bronze and silver, and kept until the implementation of a new reverse at the 1972 Munich Olympics and the subsequent total redesign of the medal for the 2004 Athens Olympics. Signed with initials "G.C." on reverse. Measurements: diameter 55 mm - height 3.4 mm. Weight 68.5 gr. Minor signs of wear. Offered via a family descendant.
