Unique Collection of 47 Megan Boyd Salmon Fishing Flies –all fully dressed, all different and come in the original wrappers with each fly named and written by Megan Boyd together with the original hand written envelope. Each fly is on Partridge 6/0 low water single hook which in her opinion the flies looked better on low-water irons and each measure 55mm overall. The collection comes on 5x white wrappers and comprise the following Card No.1 (12) Silver Doctor, Brora, Helmsdale, Sutherland, Black Doctor, Durham Ranger, Member, Dusty Miller, Freddie Morgan, Torrish, Dunkeld and Megan Boyd Card No.2 (9) 4x Irish Flies to incl Lemon and Blue, Half Grey and Brown, Fenian and Half Yellow and Black, Sunrise, Taite’s Fancy, Ray Mead, Queen of Spring and Jock Scott Card No.3 (8/9) Blue Doctor, Cairngorm, Rosy, Dawn, Ackroyd, Black Gold Finch, White Lady, (missing Helmsdale Doctor), Joe Brady and Night Hawk Card No.4 (9) Dunt, Golden Eagle, Bull Dog, Butcher, Marlodge, Black Ranger, Lady Amhearst, and De Winton Card No.5 (9) Green Highlander, Greenwell, Harlequin, Candlestick Maker, Dandy, Kate, Thunder and Lightning, Silver Grey and Orange Parson Note: The consignor, a keen shot and fisherman lived and worked in Brora and Wick from 1972-1988 and became good friends with Megan. He eventually persuaded her to make 4x dozen fully dressed flies which she only agreed to because there was no time limit and she was free to pick the patterns, which included some of her favourites and also some of the more spectacular ones to even include a Megan Boyd. The consignor’s intention was to display the flies and he can recollect Megan saying that she used special tinsels to prevent tarnishing. The consignor eventually received them from Megan in a re-used envelope (included in the lot) which was addressed to her in Brora and stamped Nov. 1978, so these date from after that time and probably received them in 1979 or 1980. The consignor never got around to framing them and they have been in their original wrappers even since - rust-free, untarnished and unfaded. The Consignor who is now back in Scotland, came across this quite remarkable collection whilst downsizing and offers the unique and rare opportunity for the connoisseur fly collector to acquire probably the largest single, cohesive collection of Megan Boyd flies in existence.
