Catalogue advertising one of the finest Violins ever made – ‘A Stradivarius made for Grand Duke Cosimo de Medici III of Florence’ - Offered by W.E. HILL & SONS, (Music Shop) 38, New Bond Street, London. 1891. An expensively produced 14 page publication giving a history of the violin from when it was made in 1690 to when it was acquired by Hill in the late 1880s. Also with 3 chromo litho multicoloured illustrations of the violin. Printed on fine quality laid paper in green cloth board cover with gold tooling and tied with red ribbon, size 7½” × 11¼”. Note: This violin came into Hill’s possession again in 1940 and they kept it for a long time until they sold it in 1954 to the “Museo degli Strumenti Musicali” in Rome where it now is. There was a Stradivarius Violin shortly came up for Auction, the first for many years which was expected to sell for some 10 Million Dollars in Sotheby’s Auction in New York shortly, only a few are still privately owned.
