Shropshire two fine printed broadsides announcing the wedding of Sir Rowland Hill Bart (nephew of Lord Hill, second in command at Waterloo), of Hawkestone Park, North Shropshire, when he married Anne Clegg, daughter of Joseph Clegg of Paeplow Hall, Shropshire in July 1832. The first broadside announces a meeting to arrange the festivities and the second announces a celebration to mark the anniversary of the wedding. The first broadside contains a manuscript insertion : ‘A noble fat ox to be roasted and partook of by the poor with potatoes alee & bread.’ Both in fine fresh condition. Approx 42x34cm and 29x23cm respectively.
