Floyd Patterson worn boxing gloves – pair of G&S Makers New York boxing gloves used and worn by Floyd Patterson – both signed and dated to the inside “3/29/82 – a pair of well used gloves which were the training gloves used by Floyd Patterson in the run-up to his rematch with Mohammed Ali in 1972 in Madison Square. Patterson lost this fight in the 7th round who at the age 37 years proved to be his last. The boxing gloves were purchased at a Charity Auction in Ireland in aid of Goal, an Irish Charity which at that time supported a project to send Irish Eye Surgeons to India one of whom was a great friend of the consignor’s late husband. Note Floyd Patterson b.1935&nbsp– d.2006) was an American professional boxer and former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. At 21, Patterson became the youngest man to win the world heavyweight title. He was also the first heavyweight boxer to regain the title as well as winning the gold medal at the 1952 Olympic Games as a middleweight.
