Autograph – politics amusingly ironic autograph letter signed by the politician John Calcraft the Elder, an MP for Calne and supporter of Pitt, dated December 1766, declining to ‘accommodate’ the Duke of Rutland ‘all my money being engaged for purchases as fast as I can get it in...’ The purchases to which he alludes are the manor of Wareham in Dorset which he followed up by gradually purchasing the chief part of the town.
