Crystal Palace Bank Holiday Programme dated 1878 Monday August 5th an unusual Historic 16 page programme advertising ‘The Phonograph or Speaking Machine’ playing Signor Foli singing, other music and speaking etc. Price of admission 1 shilling. (As the phonograph “gramophone” was only invented a few months earlier that same year by Thomas Edison this must have been the first large demonstration of this invention). Also featured in this programme Madame Patey Signor McGucklin & Signor Campobello singing various opera pieces. Exhibition of Cats and Dogs. A Circus. Grand Fireworks display that evening by Messrs Brock. Black printing in good clean condition, size 13 x 19cm
