Napoleon Bonaparte Longwood House Wallpaper dated 1926, a small piece off-white/cream in colour with a blue half star design to the reverse in pencil ‘Paper off walls of room at Longwood in which Napoleon lived and died’, Longwood St Helena given by the French consul at Longwood in 1926, Rhondda. The wallpaper is framed and glazed and has not been inspected out of the frame, the overall size is 24.5 x 11.5cm. Note: Longwood House was the residence of Napoleon Bonaparte, during his exile on the island of Saint Helena, in 1858 it was transferred to the French Government whereby the 1940s had considered demolishing the building, however Longwood House was saved and it has been restored by French curators, the stone steps at the front are the only original pieces to survive.
