Military – One of the rarest and most important photographic records of the Boer War – Siege of Mafeking Souvenir of the Siege of Mafeking by D Taylor, Photographer, Mafeking 1899-1900. First Edition produced by Taylor himself in Makeking. Manuscript dedication to inside cover ‘To mother on her birthday, 31st May 1903, Sam, Johanesburg 1903’. In original half black leather textured cloth boards a little damaged to spine and corners but interior contents appear good and fresh throughout. This is considered to be one of the rarest and most sought after photographic records of the Siege of Mafeking. Together with Siege Views of Mafeking from original photos by E J Ross taken during the siege, Eyre and Spottiswoode, London, incomplete and somewhat damaged, and The Leaguer of Ladysmith by Captain Clive Dixon, Eyre and Spottiswoode, London 1900, and two original photographs taken during the Boer War. A fine group of rare items relating to the Boer War.
