Crime and Punishment Handwritten Letter signed by Theobald Mathews on Official Public Prosecutor’s letterhead dated 01st January 1945 to Sir Alex Maxwell, t/w a two page letter on Mathew’s personal headed notepaper in Oxford, dated 21 October 1944, also included are type written notes on Royal Commission of Capital Punishment ‘The Straffen Case’, ‘The M’Naghten Rules’ stamped confidential, by Sir Alexander Maxwell dated 1951 and ‘Report of the Departmental Committee on a Central Criminal Court in South Lancashire’ 1953, all in good clean condition (6) Note: Theobald Mathews died in 1964 and was Director of Public Prosecutions from 1944 to 1964, making him the longest serving DPP
