Scarce 1974 World Seniors Golf Championship silver winner’s trophy, commemorative Claret Jug and programme – sponsored by Pringle Scotland - the fine Pringle Scottish Silver Thistle trophy hallmarked London 1974 is mounted on a circular wooden base c/w silver hallmarked band engraved “Pringle of Scotland Seniors Championship – E.G. Lester – 1974” together with cut glass claret jug with silver plated pourer, hinged lid and handle engraved with tournaments details – Eric Lester defeated Vicenzo and took the first prize $2000 the runner up $1000 played at Lundin Golf Club Lundin Links Fife. Plus the programme with profiles of both players More remarkably is the fact that Eric Lester who had quit the tournament circuit 11years earlier had only played in one event since the previous Seniors event and defeated the likes of past Open Champions Kel Nagle, Bobby Locke and Max Faulkner. Note The World Seniors Championship was first staged in 1954 – The Wm Teacher & Son co-sponsored with US PGA The Senior US Championship. In Britain Association of British Golf Writers selected the British professional from the over 50s elite to play the US winner for the World title.
