Brunel and the problem with broad gauge – Great Western Railway – The Broad Gauge, bane of the Great Western Railway Company, 4th ed 1846. 8vo 57pp, modern binding, generally good with withdrawn stamp of the British Library of Political and Economic Science pamphlet collection. Brunel’s broad gauge was proved to be not only safer than Stephenson’s standard gauge but also provided for greater speed.
