Railways – compensation for a railway death – interesting bundle of papers relating to the compensation paid following the death of William Frankland, an employee of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway who was killed at Church Goods Station in 1887, leaving three children. His children received a total of &pound27 – about &pound1,600 in today’s money. Bundle includes an inventory of the subscribers to the fund, legal papers, letters etc
