Mounted on corner feet the plinth is surmounted by a cantered panelled base with the main body rising to an stepped hood all of which is carved with symmetrical heavy decoration. The hood has brass base and capital pillars and carved edging enclosing a silver gilded etched dial and chapter ring with date rings within.
