India – Sikh Grand Portrait of HRH the Maharajah Duleep Singh the last Sikh King of Punjab. Large oil on canvas of grand proportions of the Sikh Maharajah. After Franz Xaver Winterhalter. English School – mid 20th Century. In the portrait the Maharaja is shown wearing his diamond aigrette and star in his turban and a jewel-framed miniature of Queen Victoria by Emily Eden. The original portrait is part of the royal collection housed at Osbourne house. Maharaja Duleep Singh was the last Maharajah of the Sikh Empire. He was the youngest son of the legendary “Lion of the Punjab” Ranjit Singh and JindKaur. A most fascinating regal portrait of the last Sikh Maharajah of the Punjab. Framed – 132 cm by 93cm (without frame) signs of toning and age – overall in very good condition. Provenance – Private English Collection.
