Collection of Avery Tennis Club trophies from 1949-1954 for the Sir Gilbert Vyle Memorial Trophy won M C Shaw in 1949 51 52 and 54 – the first three decorated with bronze medallions in relief one mounted on a plinth with Fattorini makers label. (4) Note Sir Gilbert Vyle whilst managing director of Avery Scales in the late 1920/30s founded the Avery Museum in 1927 (which had been in existence for 200yrs) and no doubt the company in those days would provide sports facilities for their employees hence the existence of the tennis trophies etc.
